On our geocaching podcast today, we have an interesting discussion about “Virtual” Adventure Labs. We’ve seen a number of opposite opinions about this controversial topic. We also share a big announcement about the WWFM XX, an opinion on using Google Earth to establish or refine coordinates, a creative scheme to get help off the grid and much more.

Dear Sonny & Sandy –
Ringing in on “cheating”, unethicality, poor sportsmanship – oh, I think I liked “strategy” the best – to influence find numbers. Generally, this used to be condemned. I think it should still be.
Let’s take it from a Guidelines and HQ viewpoint – you’re supposed to GO TO a Virtual or AL and for physical caches are supposed to put ink on the log. Also, Finds are an HQ maintained stat. So, whenever someone is “strategic”, “inventive” – or just has the poor character and ethics to c h e a t, that cheapens a statistic that is maintained for us all.
Of late, some have started crying “Cache Police” at anyone who points out the Guidelines. I don’t – I still rail at those who cheapen that for which MY gameplay stands. I don’t appreciate it and will never make noises that I do. And it applies to all caches no matter how it’s done.
Thanks for the great show and stirring topic,
JimRKY (Jim Roberts)
