I had my own mini-heart-stopping geocaching adventure yesterday (1/1/19), which was fortunately nothing like the downtown LA adventure. The rain had stopped and the sun was trying to come out, but the wind was starting to pick up something fierce. I opted to search for 4 Geocaches in a park to earn my Hello 2019 souvenir and to walk a bit in order to satisfy my exercise New Year resolution. Almost immediately after returning the second cache to its hiding spot, I heard crashing. I looked up to see tree limbs falling across the street. I was relieved that this wasn’t in the park and that the path took me in the opposite direction. As I walked along the park path to cache #3, there was more crashing, and this time I could see limbs falling just outside the park, but near the path I was on. I decided that perhaps my life was worth more than finding caches and walking, so I headed back to my car in the direction in which I had come. I was happy to make it back to my car without incident, and on my drive home, found that branches were down all over the place. I made it home safely and at least I was able to get my Hello 2019 Souvenir.
