The Answer to our latest "Guess The Sound" contest
Beautiful shot from inside the building, and appreciate the tip on how to do it. From the picture info, I see you used an eight-second exposure…how did you figure that out? Was it trial and error, or did your camera meter the light and come up with that exposure time?
Most cameras, now-a-days, have several settings. 1) full auto where it “takes care” of everything, but it can make “bad” decisions (like popping the flash, etc.). 2) shutter speed priority (where YOU decide how fast the shutter is and the camera will figure out the aperature opening and 3) aperature priority (where YOU decide the aperature opening and the camera figures out what the shutter speed will be). On this shot I knew I wanted a deep depth of field so I chose (3) and chose the aperature to be a larger number (8) (5.6 or 4 would have given me a shallower depth of field) and the camera figured I needed 8 secs.
I’m really enjoying the Travelcaching episodes. Thanks to my job I’ve been fortunate to have had the opportunity to cache overseas. I can certainly relate to the language issues and bad translations. On the upside, I now know the French and German equivalents to “muggled”.
Thanks for the explanation. Makes perfect sense. Saving up my $$ for a digital SLR.
