Wow!! I have never heard of GeoCarnival until PodCacher #52 so I went to the site to check it out. Much my surprise, I find my name in the GeoPhotoBlogging section. I was just skimming through the titles and saw “GeoJono finds the cache!” It is linked to my flickr account (which I just set up last week) and to a picture of my first day caching back in March 2004.
What a pleasant surprise. Thanks Sonny and Sandy for posting the link. I just love this sport and this community of geocachers!

We often cache as a family with our two kids. For them, it’s what’s in the cache that’s important, not the journey. This was emphasised when my mate brought his kids along for a hunt and they went nuts when the cache was found. It was DEFINITELY all about the swaps. So now matter what part of the world you are in, get the kids to take stuff to swap. They will enjoy it more if you are prepared.
When the smaller ones get tired legs, we let them hold the GPSr for a while so they can watch the distance to the destination reduce. It helps to motivate them.
Cheers,
Rikki.
