I don’t remember all the helpful hints for driving, but here are a few of mine. If you have a Nuvi or similar device for the car, make sure the maps are recently updated. Use it to make note of where the rest stops are and use them. Stop every hour or two to stretch the legs and find a cache. You’ll be in much better shape when you reach your destination. Drinks lots of water/ And if you haven’t listened to all of the past episodes of Podcacher, long road trips are a great time to catch up (or revisit!).
Congarts Sonny for getting my caching name right 🙂
Hi Just finished listen to the show and I have two more tips/comments about preparing for a Geocaching trip:
1. When flying, also check in advance if there are any caches at the Airport you are lending or stopping in a connection. Fro example I fly from Canada to Israel Via Zurich and there is a webcam virtual cache there (http://coord.info/GCJNCW). Also in most airports there is a free WiFi so you can use that to check for caches in case you forgot to pre-check…as long as you have enough time.
2. In some apps such as the original groudspeak one, there is an option to save the logs and upload them later in one shot (or individually). So I download my offline pocket quarry as an offline list and then when I find a cache I write the full log (or just a few key words) attach a photo and save it, When I arrive home/to a place with WiFi I will upload it. It saves the date automatically and very easy to use and you can always edit the log later when you are in front of a computer since it is already in your profile.
Thats my 2 cent (or 2 tips) 🙂
.
Great tips – Thanks!!
