I just wanted to try out the fun anti-spam verification. Mine was a monster missing part of his face (you have to drag the missing piece in.) Fun! 🙂

Once again a GREAT show! I really enjoyed the TB Resurrection stories (not just because you highlighted mine) and the ammo can story. I can’t believe it wasn’t secured properly and glad no one was injured.

Just want to add that a scarventure hunt-type of geocaching event already exists: The Geocaching Championship in Germany – (Geocaching Meisterschaft – previously called Stadtmeisterschaft) unfortunately most info about it is in German, here is one in various languages of last year’s event: http://www.saarfuchs.com/2013/12/gcm2014-11-deutsche-geocaching-meisterschaft.html It is the kind of tournament where you aime to become second – because the team that winns the tournament will organize next years championship.

I’m so glad that Sean liked the jet pack idea, the pic looked great! I’m also glad we’re not the only ones crazy enough to get have a tour stop to get a cache.

Thank-you for another great show. I enjoyed this discussion about TB resurrection and your key-chain traveler. I wonder if other listeners could contribute interesting and unusual or memorable TB ideas?

I recall a TB with a request for geography lessons for two boys at home. I made an extra effort to take that TB on a cross-country trip ( TB1FBQ1 : http://www.geocaching.com/track/details.aspx?guid=e83b3f3a-9565-4f46-ad70-005af4557b93 )

I also recall a coin with a request for pictures with local flowers (what a wonderful idea, check out the photo gallery): TBG4GA

    Thanks again, best wishes K.o.B.

    Hi S, S & S,

I enjoyed the recent show on trackables as I love trying to help TBs with their missions, taking photographs as I do so, which leads me to my question for you…

…do you have any tips for capturing good photographs of trackables out in the field? I love taking pictures that capture both the trackable and also give a flavour of the area or cache but it can be tricky to come up with interesting or informative shots that do both.

Keep up the good work and, of course, keep on caching.

StridentUK from…. well, the UK. 🙂

We just wanted to comment about travel bugs. We have this TB http://coord.info/TB618A0 which is currently in Germany. We took it took an event last year in March, and the cacher we decided to hand it to was DrJay from Northern Utah area. He ended up taken it to Europe and left it in Europe. Thanks for another great show.

Another great show! I may not comment often but I do frequently check out the show notes. Many good little tidbits there. Thanks for all your hard work!

Another great show, as always. I enjoy your shows as much as finding caches. A great alternative when it’s too miserable to get out.

My son (MeatballMatt) has a TB that has disappeared at least 3 times for as long as a year. Somehow, it keeps turning up!

Keep on shootin’! Oops – wrong podcast… Keep on cachin’!

  21. carlosguerrera February 9, 2015 at 7:08 pm #

Great show. I listen to it on my way to work. Once I get there I check out the show notes for additional information.

  22. Electric Water Boy February 9, 2015 at 8:13 pm #

I got a kick, at first, at where JMCz “dropped” his stolen knife. Yeah, it’s all Blig’s fault! But then I read log after log of stolen coins he has dropped here. How sad that people grab coins and bugs and just hang onto them. On the bright side, if you’ve logged a Jeep TB in the past couple years and the tag looked a little different, well blame than on JMCz resurrecting lost Jeep TBs and getting them going again. He’s a wonderful person to just sit and talk caching with.

BTW, what’s the secret to getting past level 9 of this security code game?

  23. John Ratzlaff February 9, 2015 at 8:18 pm #

I have a TB tale but it’s too long for a comment so I’ll send it in sometime. Thanks for the show!

So excited to try out the drag and drop captcha that Sonny has been hyping recently. Here we go…

I did it! Woohoo! Now my life is complete. 🙂

  26. Nighthawk700 February 10, 2015 at 7:31 am #

I think part of the joke of a travel bug missing suddenly being discovered in Germany is that last week there was apparently a huge list of travel bug numbers on some German Facebook Group that people started discovering (even though they never saw the TB). The phenomenon was being discussed on the “Geocachers Unlimited” Facebook group, and people were talking about deleting these mass discovery of their TBs.

  27. afishoutawater February 10, 2015 at 9:19 am #

    ooooh…. LOVE the Seahorse coin.

  28. Geobikers* February 10, 2015 at 10:33 am #

Great Show. Love the travel bug resurrection stories. We had one missing for about 4 years and got an email a few months ago that it had been found and placed in another cache. Thanks for all you do and KEEP ON CACHING.

  29. Twentse Mug February 10, 2015 at 11:05 am #

    Hi triple-S.
I enjoyed your show very much. As a TB-owner with more than 300 trackables traveling I had also a couple of resurrection. One was a TB that went from the Netherlands to Australia, went missing there. After one year it showed up in Central Park, New York City, taken to Finland and via Latvia and India it is now travelling in Quatar. http://coord.info/TB49VBR

Thank you for the show as always.

  30. Dopey919 February 10, 2015 at 12:21 pm #

    Great work Team Podcacher!

    Also looking for some feedback…
I have been wanting to release a travel bug for a while now, but looking for a creative goal. The TB goals on this show were great, and was wondering what other creative ideas people have come up with.

Thanks for the great show, and keep on caching!

New site looks nice! Love the captcha 🙂

  32. Jim52 (Jim Carter) February 10, 2015 at 8:54 pm #

    Great show.

I found a TB in a new cache in Newcastle NB,Canada . It showed that it was placed in a cache in Alberta ( about 3000 miles away) about 3 years before. No one logged the move to this cache.
I then placed it into another new cache in Blackville NB. I was the only one to find this cache before it was muggled and the bug was gone again.

  33. Tentmantent February 10, 2015 at 11:46 pm #

Hi. Loved the TB stories. Me and my daughter released ‘Patch, the lady travelbug here in the UK ‘ on her 9 th birthday (she’s now 17!). It went to the USA, new Zealand and Australia before returning home to us. After 2 years of retirement we re-released it and it’s been around Asia and Europe and is back with us. Last year I took it to Africa and we’re about to give it to our friend jimjoolz to take to the Falklands on a tour of duty in the hope that it will visit South America and Antarctica thus completing its mission to visit each of the 7 continents!

  34. Bryab_brye February 11, 2015 at 12:14 pm #

So.like I just started GeoCaching a few days ago and I just started listening to your show last night and I thought that story of the resurrection of the tracker bug was AMAZING I loved it also hope to win that prize lol

  35. MikeAndJuli February 11, 2015 at 2:03 pm #

    Hello SSs!

Finally got caught up on listening to the last few shows. Honestly, I love your local ‘amazing race’! What’s interesting is that we are having a similar event here in Colorado Springs this coming Sunday (the 15th). It was set up outside of Geocaching.com by Helping Humanity booster club along with help from the 2nd Space Operations Squadron from Schriever AFB. For those who don’t know, the 2nd Space Operations Squadron is the group of folks responsible for keeping the GPS Satellites/constellation up and running. They are helping out with this Geocache race in Colorado Springs in recognition of the GPS system. Per their signup sheet ‘As you may very well know, GPS has become a system for humanity. It is a free signal, is available all over the world, and is very accurate. It is used not only by the military, and not just for navigation. The public also uses it to enhance productivity, to increase safety, and just to have fun.’
An Airman actually contact our Geocaching organization a few weeks ago, and we were able to get this set up as an official Geocaching.com event! check it out at http://coord.info/gc5m65p

Another subject from the latest episode that we will be bringing up at an event this weekend – Trackables! We are hosting our first multi-event this coming Sunday evening (the 15th) to kick off a state-wide trackable race! With the help of 4 other hosts in different areas of our state we will be able to have all of the events at the same time (kinda like the WWFM!). We are also going to link them through Google Hangouts for a cool prize giveaway, and so everyone can check out the other events. How cool is that? We have already signed up 24 Trackables into the race, and the events haven’t even happened yet!

Well, as you can tell it is a busy caching month for us! Glad to have your Podcast to help keep us sane. Stay Safe, and Keep on Cachin’!

  37. GeoJewett February 11, 2015 at 4:35 pm #

Fun show! I might have the shortest lived TB, in that it lasted all of a week before being lost and never heard from again.

We placed our first cache (Ammocan) and put the TB inside. The cache was muggled within a week and never to return! 🙁

Looking forward to the hangout test!

I loved the stories of Travel Bug Resurrections, I picked up a Travel Bug from a cache just off the Appalachian Trail yesterday that had been in a “Lonely Cache” for 4 years, 4 months and 11 days.

Is the podcacher forum dead? Saw this on an old link to it (from GoDaddy):

NOTICE: This domain name expired on 1/11/2015 and is pending renewal or deletion.

    • PodCacher February 15, 2015 at 9:20 pm #

We mentioned in the show and via newsletter that we had let the old podcacherforums.com domain expire and archived all the old content to another location. We’re planning to switch gears and setup a forum on this site. Until then, we’ve been encouraging comments and discussion on the posts here on the website.

I have a tb that has been out and back three times! It has taken part in The Bank Job TB Race, see http://www.tbbankjob.wordpress.com.

Thought I’d try the new website, and enter the comp and play with the captcha
Thanks for the show. Been listening for over six years now!
