I received this link from Sonny and Sandy from the Podcacher Podcast today.
Arkansas Geocachers have been active in trying to get the Game and Fish to allow Geocachers to place geocaches on their property. We gathered a list of people who were interested in placing geocaches on Game and Fish land. Now the reason for this was to show them what a diverse group of people we have and that we are responsible people. We had all kinds of people from professional levels, law enfocement, teachers, firemen, etc willing to contribute to the Nature experience as well as the geocaching experience. In the past, geocaches placed on Game and Fish property was removed and or they listed the geocaches on their site and lot linking to the geocaching home page. So this was an effort to make a "win, win" situation for all. But it looks like they are not willing to meet us half way on this project.
There has been so much trail development and educational information placed on the trails that I brought my daughter to the trails to do her leaf collection. We drove about 120 miles round trip for the experience. There was one "lame" geocache there placed by the Game and Fish. Out of the many acres there, only one geocache. I think they could do better than that! I would even volunteer my time placing the caches for them if they wanted. It will take some time to convince some people that Geocaching is a big outdoor experience and lots of people enjoy it. We actually see more of nature than we did when we were not geocaching! Maybe, we can help each other in the end.
That's all the ranting I will do for now. Just don't get me started on the Ozark National Forrest and their policy on geocaching!
I am off tomorrow, so it looks like a good day to go geocaching!

Do you have any thoughts or comments on this kind of regulation? What would be your strategy to win over the hearts and "closed" minds of the muggles?
