Here's a great example of a First Aid Kit, compiled by geocacher (and nurse) luckyastrodiver
- The "usual" first aid supplies (various band aids, antibacterial wipes, antibiotic ointment, etc)
- a fine tip tweezers (dual purpose ~ log remover and thorn /cactus /splinter extractor)
- nitrile gloves
- several different size pieces of sterile gauze
- Coban wrap (similar to an Ace bandage but sticks to itself ~ can be used for sprains or to hold gauze in place)
- a piece of blister material
- steri strips (or butterfly bandages to close larger wounds)
- wound closure glue
- blood stop material (either the powder or gel foam. These can be found at larger pharmacies without a prescription)
- a tampon ~ for penetrating wounds (falling on a thick stick etc)
- instant ice pack
- 2 single use vials of sterile eye drops to use as eye wash
- contact lens case with Caladryl on 1 side and sunscreen on the other (it will be enough for neck and ears at a minimum)
- DEET wipe
- Lifestraw or water purification tablets
- a mylar blanket
- single packs of ibuprofen (Advil), naprosyn (Aleve), Extra Strength acetaminophen (Tylenol)
- 4 dyphenhydramine (Benadryl)
- 1 cetirizine (Zyrtec)
- 4 Tums plus Gas Relief
- 4 Pepto Bismol tablets
- 2 dimenhydrinate (Dramamine)
- 2 packets of powdered aspirin (BC packets - for pain or heart attack)
- Chapstick with SPF 15
- 1 day supply of all prescribed medicines for my husband and myself
All meds are put in TINY baggies with labels and expiration dates.
The single pack meds I found at the Dollar Tree.
Packed right, these will all fit into a small pack that I can wear around my waist
