Positive:
1) Small, lightweight, and VERY simple to use. An (almost) no-frills GPSr.
2) Includes 5 GPS Virtual Games
3) Its physical appearance allows me to "muggleflauge" myself in urban settings, by pretending it is a cell phone.
Negative:
1. Using the electonic compass eats up extra battery life and must be recalibrated if the batteries are replaced.
2. It doesn't come with a PC interface cable for downloads.
3. One would think that all GPSr's produced today would include High-sensitivity receivers - nope, not here.

Positive:
1) Ultra-stealthy! It's the same size, shape, and color as an average cell phone (I camo my Geko using a cell belt case).
2) Super lightweight! Again it is so much like the average cell phone.
3) Easy to operate. No thumb-sticks or tongles to wag -- everything is controlled using five easy buttons.
4) Electronic compass feature is helpful when coverage in an area is bad or if stopping to get a bearing.
5) Barometric altimeter provides additional elevation information as well as pressure measurements.
6) Very easy to upload or download the maximum 500 waypoints 20 routes using the optional USB data cable.
7) Comes with several GPS games to play, other than geocaching 😉
8) It's said to be submersible for 30 minutes too. Still, I'm not checking this feature out for myself.
Negative:
1) No mapping, so this GPSr provides very limited help while driving.
2) No color display. For flashy screens get something other than a Geko301.
3) No Sound. Absolutely no audible cues to identify nearing a waypoint.
4) No memory expansion capabilities.
It all comes down to what to see is what you get with the Geko301.
